Tim Leary Wisdom vs Fundamentalist Christians

Timothy Leary used to say it was useless to try to put words around a concept such as God. How
as soon as you begin to solidify the idea of god with a word, you begin to get away
from the true concept and the best way to grasp prayer and talk with God
is to keep quiet and listen.

back and hold me close to your sweaty body while you babble on the corner
and everyone is watching.

In fact one
can go on and on and on and on about God without experiencing Him, look at all the volumes of babbling
in most church libraries. Theology
professors build whole buildings for their collections, but truth is you lose the truth when you
start putting Earth boundaries around truth by using Earth language, as Leary used to say, Words can lead
you there, words can explain and define the place. Words can even describe what it's like, to a
certain extent. But words are a construct devised for humans to interact on this planet, not for
interaction with God, who doesn't care what language you speak or which words
you are actually using.
God or Holy Spirit or Higher Power reaches into your heart and sees who you really are, and is not even interested in the specific words you are using.

That's what
drives me nuts about the fundies, when they want to do something like hold their hands over my
head and pray over me to make me well.
Huh? You think God doesn't know
what I'm going through already and you think God doesn't already have his own
idea how to deal with me?
You think you have some kind of special pull with God
to change his mind?
What an
abomination.

Iraq became a nation to support British Petroleum, BP, same biz whose oil scaffold blew up in Gulf of Mex few years back, am I only person who thinks there is a connection there? Iraqis hate us bk we sucked out their resources and left them poor. Once we stop our dependence on oil, we won't care what happens in the middle east. Solar and Wind Energy mean Peace. Hope I live to see the day.

They are not enemies; we can learn from them
(Published in Letters section of AV Press May 16, 2014, their headline)
When I
was a teenager in Pasadena, guys I knew were coming home from the war in
Vietnam really messed up. One friend told me in a narcotic haze that he had
watched his buddies die at a battle for Michelin Plantation.
I said,
what? You were at war for a rubber corporation? He nodded, yeah that's about what it
was.
For me,
that was a political turning point, and soon I was going with my older sister
to Peace and Freedom Party meetings, where I signed my name at the door.
Does
that mean 50 years later, if I'm not a radical left-winger, I'm a turncoat? No,
I just grew up and saw how the world really works.
One
thing I learned is that the biggest pacifists in America are in the military,
because they are the ones who actually have to fight when we go to war.
However, as much as we would love to not even need a military or weapons, the
reality is there are forces who would like to destroy us, and we have to be
prepared.
So I
gave up my teenage naivete and developed a passion for real solutions to real
problems, with no political theory attached. I learned that a person whose
politics are a little different from mine is not an enemy; he's someone to
learn from.

US Under Attack by way of Right Wing Media
Our enemies could be using 'Freedom'

When they flew airplanes into our buildings, it took us all by surprise. Now what else could they do? How about take our cherished freedoms, such as the First and Second Amendments, and twist them around to work against us.
Funnel billions of dollars into a misinformation campaign. Pay really high salaries to on air personalities and media execs whose main skill is to repeat sound bites effectively and reach a large audience (Limbaugh Ailes etc ).
Conduct this well financed misinformation campaign.
Then watch as Americans hear almost nothing but false facts and emotionally evocative phrases - "taking away our guns" "secret Muslim" "communism socialism"

Repeat over and over that the Second Amendment says we can stockpile weapons of mass destruction, and leave out the words “regulated militia” when quoting that part of the Constitution.
No matter how outrageous your opinion, Americans will let you say it, under our First Amendment. Our enemies could be using that First Amendment freedom as a military tool to spread stories carefully crafted to turn us against each other.
Add red white and blue and other elements to convince people what they're hearing is patriotic.

They figured out a way to attack us using our own airplanes. Why wouldn't they use our own Constitution to turn us against ourselves?
