Wait a minute. Once vaccinated, a person can still get covid but will not be hospitalized and may not even have symptoms…? Doesn't that mean vaccinated persons will get covid and not know it so go out unprotected and continue to spread the virus? With the vaccine we aren’t stopping spread of covid, we're just giving the virus a place to live and mutate in hiding? Right now vaccines are given without any accompanying education about how the virus spreads. You still need to distance and wear masks. Shaking my head, as I don't know, but when Trump said "every time you see a vaccine, see my face" or something like that last month, I got chills. Because to me, main persons benefiting from vaccines are big pharma stockholders. It would have been smarter when the virus first appeared to do a coordinated lockdown and enforce it, cut the virus off, starve it off, give covid no access to humans to infect: a global shutdown or "circuit breaker" as Brits were trying to organize a year ago. Instead Trump was president and ALL THE EFFORT against covid went into vaccines, which I don't believe for a minute are going to solve the problem. But I don't want to appear to be an anti-vaxxer and arouse stupid arguments in social media so am just saying this opinion on my blog on March 22. After feeling this way for a long time, I'm convinced. The vaccine that has totally dominated the news about covid for months now in USA is a residue of the Trump era. To really stop the pandemic we need to go back and start from square one with mask mandates and social distancing, AND a comprehensive cohesive and total effort that includes changing lifestyles, major changes in how we live on the planet. Otherwise there will just be more and more virus and disease. But, it may be too late. Watching the twerking in Miami spring break right now, I don't have much hope for the next few months. Remember Donald Trump convinced us that for covid, the vaccine was be all and end all- Donald Trump.
(posted Feb 23 on Facebook. Our embrace of vaccine in USA reminds me of an out of control PTSD triggered event, on a massive scale.)
(posted March 2 on Twitter).
(This blog post was updated July 21 to add importance of wearing masks, as since March, vaccinated persons going out unmasked are likely contributing to the current spread of virus. Thanks, Rochelle Walensky, I wish they'd fire you for going on TV saying masks no longer needed if vaccinated, you probably helped kill a few thousand people.)
UPDATE July 30:
It's not new science that vaccinated persons still spread the virus. I wrote this post saying so March 22 2021. I'm just a little old lady with a laptop who reads a lot, how come CDC didn't know and I did?
Even if vaccinated, the virus can enter your mouth, then exit and go into another person's mouth. You may not get sick but you can still spread the virus. So yes, get vaccinated but also WEAR A MASK
You and I seem to be the only 2 people who get it?!
ReplyDeleteI get it, we all want a return to normal life. It can’t and won’t happen until the majority of Americans have been vaccinated.
