New Jersey flash flooding has submerged roads and vehicles after torrential rain triggered dangerous high water across the state, with Paterson and surrounding North Jersey communities among the hardest-hit areas.

Severe flash floods struck northern New Jersey particularly hard, overwhelming streets and drainage systems across Paterson and parts of Passaic and Bergen counties. Rapidly rising floodwater stranded motorists, inundated neighborhoods and left vehicles nearly submerged as emergency crews responded to water rescues.

New Jersey, USA in Flood Chaos! Severe Flash Floods Swamp Roads, Submerge Vehicles Storm-HQ Sep 13, 2026 Paterson experienced some of the most serious flooding. Vehicles were submerged nearly to their windows as water rapidly covered city streets, while basements and first floors of homes were flooded. Emergency crews rescued approximately 20 people as dangerous conditions developed across affected neighborhoods. The storm's impact extended beyond Paterson into Wayne and several Bergen County communities. High water and flooded roads were reported around Norwood, Haworth, Glen Rock and Oradell, with additional flash flooding affecting areas around Passaic, Bloomfield, Orange, Paramus and Montclair. Intense rainfall fueled the New Jersey flooding, with rain falling at rates of approximately one to two inches per hour in parts of the region. Between three and five inches had fallen across portions of northeastern New Jersey by late morning, overwhelming drainage systems and quickly sending water across streets, underpasses and other low-lying areas. Transportation was also disrupted as the severe weather affected areas beyond North Jersey. Flooding conditions in Camden forced NJ Transit's River Line to suspend service, adding to travel problems across the state. Global flooding series videos & images ongoing now at Heating Planet Blog

I am covering floods happening all over the planet right now. It was going to be three or four posts but thereare more and more incidents.  So this is now an ongoing series and each time I post a new flood story I'll also link it here.

Because there will be more. All I have to do is type the word flood into the search engine and filter for today and extreme storm stories start flooding in, links about flooding in yet another part of the world, and it's always a massive amount of rain dumping all of a sudden, huge amounts of water at once like it's never done before.

Just like scientists have predicted for years, because the ice on the planet is melting, huge amounts of water vapor is going into the sky and dumping floods, flash floods  anywhere the river of water is hovering when it gets too heavy to stay in the sky anymore. 

I started this blog October 2025 because I was alarmed at Trump and the Republicans claiming that global warming is a hoax. 

Now I want to know who is behind that lie and what was their motive, why did they want to see whole areas of the Earth get destroyed and people lose everything they have.

Having a wonderful experience, nurses coming to my home to take care of me. It makes me feel so wealthy. Medicare and California's compassion are finally coming through for me.

Eastern Canada has always had powerful storms, but meteorologists who have tracked weather in the region say what they're seeing now is different. 

The torrential storm in Cape Breton weekend of Sept 6 is another example of how extreme weather is no longer a rarity. Meteorologist Kristi Gordon explains how climate change is contributing to heavier rainfall, faster-intensifying storms and more hurricanes hitting the Atlantic coast. "Getting a 50 mm rainfall event for example was a big deal back in the 1980s; now it's not so much of a big deal anymore and we're seeing more of these hundred millimeter rainfall events 200 mm rainfall events." 

- Veteran meteorologist Bob Robichaud has witnessed the weather change in Eastern Canada. the reason global warming. 

= as our atmosphere warms up, it can hold more moisture. 

- This leads to more intense storms with heavier downpours.

= Coupled with that, larger periods of time between those events result in significant drying. And then when you do get that rainfall the soil is not conditioned to accept that rainfall And it all runs off and you end up with flash flooding.

- To make matters worse, some of these storms are intensifying faster than ever before. 

= Which is very very dangerous obviously if you're trying to make decisions about evacuations along the coast

- Eastern Canada is located near the Battle Zone between the warm air above the Gulf Stream and the Arctic air from the north. - Because global warming is also warming our oceans, the increased temperature contrast adds more energy to the storms and causes them to intensify more quickly.

= Nowhere else, not even in Canada but in the world do we see as many rapidly intensifying winter storms as we see here in Atlantic Canada.

- There has also been an increase in the number of hurricanes hitting the region.

= If we look back at 1987, it was around three or four. Now it's more like four or five.

- Ocean warning means hurricanes are able to maintain their strength longer and migrate further north. And rising sea levels are adding to the risk.

= It means that a lesser storm can cause even more damage, especially along the coast, than the same storm say even 20 years ago.

- The message is clear. If Earth's temperatures continue to warm, communities in Eastern Canada will face even greater impacts.
