There's something Dickensian in Stacey Segarra-Bohlinger singing her public comments to L.A. City Council.
She’s like Madame Defarge knitting.
Stacey delivered another Broadway quality protest song at the Los Angeles City Council meeting Jan 24.
Lyric transcribed below watch her sing it here :
STACEY: [SINGING]
Number seven under chapter two of the L.A. City Council rules clearly states that you shall hear us speak near the beginning of the meeting.
Nithya* why are you so afraid to do the work for which you're paid? I hate that for the folks who call in to the meetings they are likely to be prevented from speaking because Council body is only power seeking, they don’t care about democracy.
[Editor’s note, the melody Stacey has improvised to sing these
words is Broadway quality, as is her voice, making her appearances at L.A.
City Council meetings a highlight, a reason to return to watch next meeting on L.A.

]
STACEY: [STILL SINGING] Kevin DeLeon resign, I haven’t forgotten your crimes, it's just that Nithya has failed she is complicit as well. Her promises are only lies she tells when it comes to racism.
[Buzzer sounds speaker’s time expired. End of transcript]

At this very critical time in American history, we all need to find unprecedented ways to get information out past the censors and controllers.
And because it's L.A. where half the population has probably
at one point been performers of some kind, the City Council should have more artistic expression.
It's tres L.A.
I love to watch public comments at meetings, in Florida, Michigan, Huntington Beach... Americans are going a weird kind of crazy right now and I'm observing from six thousand feet up on three laptop screens at once, feeling very futuristic.

* Nithya is Nithya Raman, current council rep for District Four
