Epstein and pedophile Catholic priest survivors may share a health issue: PTSD causes autoimmune disorder years later SERIES CONt'D

In recent Congressional hearings several Epstein survivors said they are now diagnosed with PTSD. In 1996 a PTSD diagnosis finally gave me an explanation for what had been wrong with me for decades.

Unfortunately when someone has PTSD for decades it can develop into autoimmune disease which is what is going on with me now at age 78 and a big reason I renamed this blog DIY Hospice along with Heating Planet in late 2025.

I seem to be recovering now enough to get back to work and have picked up Virginia's book to continue reading where I'm finding lots and lots of stuff to put in blog posts in the near future.

Meanwhile, I want to share this information about autoimmune disease caused by PTSD here as a kind of Public Service as… life goes on.

If you have PTSD for a long period of time, it can and probably will develop into an autoimmune disease

I know about this just at an anecdotal level because I interviewed about a hundred Pedophile priest victims between 2006 and 2016

The autoimmune disease for me has made me allergic to almost everything.(Read more at bottom)

Meanwhile here is some print information from the internet about how being in a state of constant stress and tension from PTSD for weeks on end can do damage to your nervous system which is all over your body. ***

AI Overview

PTSD and autoimmune diseases
The Biological Link
Trauma and prolonged stress cause your central nervous system to get stuck in "fight or flight" mode. This constant state of emergency alters your immune function and causes the prolonged release of pro-inflammatory markers (like C-reactive protein and interleukins). Over time, this chronic inflammation damages tissues and unmasks a predisposition to autoimmune responses, where the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy cells. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Associated Autoimmune Conditions
Research indicates a higher prevalence of several specific autoimmune diseases among individuals with a history of trauma, including: [1]
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Lupus (Systemic Lupus Erythmatosus)
  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD, like Crohn's or ulcerative colitis)
  • Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
  • Autoimmune thyroid diseases (such as Hashimoto's) [1, 2, 3]
Management and Treatment
If you are navigating both conditions, a multidisciplinary approach is highly effective.
  • Psychiatric Care: Addressing PTSD through trauma-informed therapies (such as EMDR or Cognitive Processing Therapy) and potentially medications can lower stress-hormone levels, which naturally calms the immune system. Interestingly, some clinical studies show that patients with PTSD who take specific antidepressants like SSRIs experience a reduced rate of autoimmune disease. [1, 2, 3, 4]
  • Integrative Support: Anti-inflammatory diets, mindfulness-based stress reduction, and regular, low-impact exercise are often used alongside traditional medicine to help regulate inflammatory pathways. [1, 2, 3]
For more information, you can read about the physiological impact of stress on the body in the Healthline Overview on Autoimmune Diseases and PTSD or explore clinical research on the immune system in PTSD available in Nature.

POST NOTE: Recently, I finally found a way to soothe inflamed oozing rash by wrapping it with cotton fabric, but it turns out the cotton t-shirts in my closet also contained just a tiny amount of elastic

A couple years ago I discovered I'm allergic to elastic all of a sudden, probably because it's made now in Vietnam and places with rubber trees and I think they're using something really low quality to make the elastic.

Whatever, I'm unable to wear underwear as a result. because almost all underwear has elastic in it. I joked to a friend that I was wearing my underwear on the outside now because of the allergy but that didn't work because then my arms rub against it and I get hives everywhere. I wonder how many others with PTSD induced autoimmune disease allergies now have to walk around their houses half naked because of this new elastic.

I'm just writing this to give the Epstein survivors an idea of what they're up for in the future unless Medical Science figures out a way to stop autoimmune disease.
