TRANSCRIPT:  CONDITIONS ACROSS THE REGION. 0:05 IN JUNE, THE STATE WAS IN GOOD 0:06 SHAPE, BUT IN A MATTER OF TWO 0:08 MONTHS, IT ALL CHANGED. ALL OF 0:14 VERMONT IS NOW EXPERIENCING AT 0:15 LEAST MODERATE DROUGHT, WITH 0:16 PARTS OF THE NORTHEAST 0:17 KINGDOM, CENTRAL VERMONT AND 0:19 SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF THE 0:20 CHAMPLAIN VALLEY ESCALATED TO 0:21 SEVERE LEVELS. ALL OF NORTHERN 0:23 NEW HAMPSHIRE IS ALSO UNDER 0:25 EXPERIENCING SEVERE DROUGHT 0:27 CONDITIONS. THESE DRY 0:28 CONDITIONS HAVE LEAD TO CROP 0:29 AND TREE STRESS, WELLS DRYING 0:33 OUT, MORE FIRES, AND WATER 0:35 RESTRICTIONS. 0:39 "because of the lower than 0:40 normal precipitation we've had 0:40 recently the stream flows on 0:41 the rivers and lakes are 0:41 running much below normal all 0:42 across the northeast 0:47 currently. It would take... it 0:49 would take quite a bit of 0:51 persistent rainfall to get out 0:52 of the drought at this point 0:54 its probably going to be a 1:00 gradual thing." THE NATIONAL 1:02 WEATHER SERVICE ALSO RECENTLY 1:03 RELEASED ITS CLIMATE SUMMARY 1:04 FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST. 1:05 LOCATIONS SUCH AS MONTPELIER 1:05 AND SPRINGFIELD SAW THEIR 1:08 DRIEST AUGUST ON RECORD, BOTH 1:09 RECEIVING LESS THAN AN INCH OF 1:14 RAIN FOR THE ENTIRE MONTH.
