At least 21 people have died and 30 others are still missing after a massive landslide struck the hilly region of Tesot in LGO Marquet County, western Kenya amid several days of heavy short rains precipitation. More than 1,000 homes were destroyed as the saturated slopes gave way and numerous roads are now impassable, hampering rescue efforts. Rescue teams continue to reach through debris, fearful the death toll could rise further as nearby terrain remains unstable with ongoing rain.
