Capistrano, San Clemente Norte Fire hits SoCal exurban mansions= Storm-HQ Oct 16 report w 25 SCREEN shots at Heating Planet Blog

The Norte Fire damaged and destroyed homes in Southern California, forcing approximately 16,000 residents to evacuate last week as powerful HOT DRY Santa Ana winds fuel dangerous flames across Orange County. Homes damaged or destroyed, mass evacuations, and multiple wildfires threaten communities.

The fast-moving Norte Fire swept through neighborhoods near San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano, damaging or destroying at least six homes. Approximately 6,000 households faced mandatory evacuation orders, while two firefighters were hospitalized during the emergency.

In San Diego County to the south, the Henderson Fire burned approximately 2,080 acres near Camp Pendleton and San Onofre, disrupting Interstate 5.

Extreme Santa Ana winds, dry vegetation, and low humidity intensified wildfire conditions across California. Preventive power shutoffs affected thousands of customers as emergency crews worked to protect homes and communities.

[This fire is in San Clemente, where my parents retired in 1970s. My dad served on the planning commission. Humans should not build homes where no human built them before, learn from the natives]

Since I was a little girl, I've thought humans were stupid to build homes back in those hills. When I was packing up my dad's stuff in the '90s, I found the blueprint for the city of San Clemente from back when he had been on the planning commission. I even lived there with my daughter in an apartment nearby for almost a year a while back. Humans should not build housing developments where no human built them before, learn from the natives

SEPTEMBER 2026 OCEAN TEMPERATURE ANOMALY HIGHEST ON RECORD
The September 2026 ocean temperature was 1.10°C higher than 1901-2000, the highest anomaly in the NOAA record. The added trend reflects El Niño peaking late 2026, contributing to an Antarctic Blue Ocean Event followed by an Arctic Blue Ocean Event.
The second image shows NASA ocean temperature anomalies versus 1880-1920.
