French Alps cracking under weight of historic snow-pack, Level 5 avalanche alerts- Tectonic Fury channel Feb 21 report- Read & watch at Heating Planet blog

Extreme precipitation series cont'd: Last week Storm Nils brought record snow and wind to France, triggering a rare level-five avalanche alert. Experts explain the hidden dangers within the snowpack, revealing a complex chain of events. The resulting instability impacts a wide region, forcing resorts to close and raising serious safety concerns. Read & Watch STORM NILS BURIES France — Avalanches REFUSE to Stop Tectonic Fury Channel The French Alps are cracking under the weight of a snowpack that was already broken before Storm Nils ever arrived. Scientists monitoring the Savoie massifs confirm what the bulletins are now stating openly: the persistent weak layers buried since early winter have reached critical loading thresholds across multiple sectors simultaneously, triggering the rarest avalanche alert in twenty-five years of modern French monitoring. Level Five. The maximum. Issued for the first time alongside simultaneous red alerts for wind and flooding, a combination Meteo France confirmed has never occurred before in the history of the alert system. In forty-eight hours, Storm Nils deposited between sixty and one hundred centimeters of fresh snow above one thousand eight hundred meters, loading a snowpack already compromised by months of buried depth hoar and faceted crystal layers that do not heal, do not bond, and do not stabilize under additional weight. Three skiers died at Val d'Isere on February thirteenth. A walker was killed by a spontaneous natural release in Valloire on February seventeenth as danger reached Level Five with no human trigger required. Two more died at La Grave the same day. Twenty-eight deaths recorded in France this winter season alone, in a cycle that forecasters are describing as one of the most lethal avalanche seasons across the entire western Alpine arc in modern recorded history. Rising temperatures now introduce wet slab mechanics into a snowpack that has not finished moving. The next fracture is already forming. Part 3 of this post

Several areas of Earth went under water or snow in the past weeks and, even though the news doesn't mention it, global warming is causing this extreme precipitation. As the planet's glaciers and ice caps melt, most of the water evaporates and joins currents in the air to form atmospheric rivers, which will soon be raising sea levels everywhere, even inland.
