Brazil drowns- Another sudden cloudburst, as Earth's melted ices produce flood bombs in the sky that inundate regions around the globe- GWN report w 41 screen shots at Heating Planet Blog.

Rio De Janeiro: A violent storm flooded São Paulo on October 14, 2026, turning downtown streets into rivers, submerging vehicles inside the Anhangabaú tunnel, and triggering a deadly landslide. The disaster has reignited questions about the city's flood defenses, especially because the tunnel has flooded before and officials already face court-ordered requirements to improve drainage planning. Days later, São Paulo was bracing for more heavy rain as emergency crews continued dealing with the aftermath.
The Anhangabaú tunnel became the center of a political dispute after Governor Tarcísio de Freitas said it should have been closed during the storm. Mayor Ricardo Nunes defended the city's emergency protocol, arguing that floodwaters rose too quickly.
Meanwhile, prosecutors demanded the emergency response timeline and challenged the city's progress on long-term drainage plans. A judge declined to impose penalties for now, ruling that the city remained within the revised deadline for submitting those plans.
In this video, we follow new flooding in Rio de Janeiro, expanding flash-flood and landslide risks across southeastern Brazil, and the rising Uruguay River flood crest threatening communities in Rio Grande do Sul. Confirmed casualty and missing-person figures are pinned in the comments and updated as official numbers change.
