Off the west coast of Scotland wind gusts of 154 km/h (95 mph). On the northern coast of France gusts reached 131 km/h (81 mph) and 110 km/h (68 mph) offshore. In Belgium 100 km/h (62 mph). Storm Amy swept across several European countries Oct 6 w/ winds and torrential rain, leaving behind significant damage and flooding. It's disrupted road, rail, and sea transport in the UK and Scandinavia.

More than 200,000 homes were left without power in Ireland and Northern Ireland. In Scotland, many ferry services were suspended, and roads and rail lines were blocked by fallen trees. The storm disrupted normal life, from football to everyday activities.
In Norway, strong winds tore roofs off houses and knocked down trees. . 
Hundreds of roads were closed due to the severe weather. As of Monday morning, approximately 120,000 households were without power.
The current storm, dubbed "Amy," is the remnant of Hurricane Humberto, which formed over the Atlantic Ocean last week.
