Transcript:"This is not God's good plan for creation. Where leaders are dragging their feet, young people around the world are stepping up and speaking up. The climate crisis is devastating for people in poverty. We follow a God of justice and compassion who calls us to care for his creation."
Tired of hearing about the climate crisis? Honestly? So are we. Tearfund works in more than 50 countries around the world and in every single one of them, climate change is affecting communities living in poverty.Time and time again, it's the same story. Those who’ve done the least to cause the climate crisis are suffering the worst effects of it.
We follow a god of justice and compassion -this is not his good plan for creation. The climate crisis can feel overwhelming and yet the solutions do exist! Our government just lacks the political will and ambition to invest in them. Where leaders are dragging their feet, young people around the world are stepping up and speaking up for God's creation and for people living in poverty.
[interviewees translated: Every tree, every river and every living thing reminds me that we are deeply connected. My faith and love for my neighbour is what motivates me to act. As Christians, we are also called to take care of our planet. At this time when politicians are really muddling truth, it is very important that we make it utterly clear that climate change is real and impacting people today.]
These young people are demonstrating the kind of commitment needed to secure a fairer future for everyone. But it's not their responsibility to do it alone. Will you call on our leaders to raise their ambition, fulfill their climate commitments, and deliver climate justice for communities most affected by the climate crisis?
