Heavy rain continues to lash Kerala, state on southwest tip of India on Arabian Sea. Idukki is the worst hit. Flooding and mudslides have been reported from several areas. Water has entered homes and shops. Fishermen warned not to venture into the sea until October 22. Rivers are running high. The IMD has issued an orange alert in six districts. A yellow alert is in place for the rest of the state. Many residents have been moved to relief camps, Dam water is rising. Thirteen dam shutters have been opened to release excess water.
