Bad guys can't take it all

As one of the hundred thousand persons who came forward as pedophile priest victims in recent years in USA, I have a hard time finding a place to call Church, even though I miss something from that place. I find gospel music that is based on the American black experience really works for me, Especially this song.

So I asked AI what is the Prayer of Jabez and it answered this

Key Requests in the Prayer

  • Blessing: Asking God for genuine favor and provision.

  • Enlarged Territory: Requesting greater influence, opportunities, or reach to do good.

  • Divine Hand: Asking for God's continuous presence, power, and guidance.

  • Protection from Evil: Asking to be kept safe from harm, trouble, and causing or enduring pain. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

which made me go hmm no wonder I like this so much. Especially the part about being kept safe from harm, because for some reason- probably because I wrote about the pedophile priests- I attract evil attacks and have to work really hard to keep them away. When Jesus gave The Sermon on the Mount, he said you don't need a church, you don't need a pastor or a priest, you just hold up your arms and pray.

This is the source for the song:

***

"Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!" — 1 Chronicles 4:9–10 (NKJV)

***

My experience with Catholic Church corporate lawyers spoiled me for conventional prayer, but black gospel music really works for me.

Kirk Franklin is my fave of all
