As soon as I woke up June 19th I checked the two local news sources here in South Lake Tahoe, because there had been a huge break in the story about the upcoming Vacancy Tax election. This is opening of the story yesterday at SFGate:
"Second homeowners can’t vote in local elections. But in May, a suspicious letter sent to people who own second homes in South Lake Tahoe outlined steps to mislead election officials and register to vote at their vacation residence. The letter asked second homes to register so they can vote against a controversial tax measure this fall.
"SFGATE reviewed a photo of the letter that was sent to second
homeowners. The envelope was postmarked May 25, with a return address in
Sunnyvale, a town more than 200 miles from South Tahoe.
"The El Dorado County elections department found 194 people whose
voter registrations are suspicious, said Bill O’Neill, director of the El
Dorado County elections department, in a phone interview with SFGATE.
"Election
law is clear that voters must be registered in the location of their domicile,
or permanent residence — not a second home. The El Dorado County elections
department has been keeping a close watch on the uptick in fraudulent voter
activity since February." Story continues at SF Gate here:

When I read the article yesterday, I was certain this news would
rock the local establishment. At least they’d
talk about this outright voter fraud at the City Council meeting that night. But they didn't.
South Tahoe Now, our online news source, actually broke this story first by publishing the letter from the county registrar of voters that they were investigating and if you want to vote illegally, you'll be breaking the law. We have a very large MAGA population up here, and of course they reacted to the idea of obeying election law as if their side job is selling pillows for Mike Lindell.
**
There was no mention of the fraudulent letter that was sent out in either of today’s local publications.
Since moving here ten years ago, I've been astonished at how people who’ve lived here for decades don’t want to know about current events nationwide. It's as if they want the
rest of the world to stay away, so we can all smell the flowers
Well, long time residents may think they can keep rest of the world out, but ignoring world news makes them more vulnerable to scams and fraud, such as the letter sent from Sunnyvale to second homeowners in Tahoe. Besides there's so much auto exhaust in the air in South Lake now that's about all you can smell..
*
In this nation of course you are free to ignore world news. However, Thomas Jefferson wrote that democracy only works when the voters are well informed; in fact, that's why we have Public Schools system, which the MAGAs are trying to get rid of... .
If you do choose to ignore the news, you are much more likely to believe propaganda coming in on your phone or letters from anonymous persons in Sunnyvale.
South Tahoe Now did post this as their front page story this AM. GOOD NEWS: We sell so much weed here we can donate $411,000 to local non profits.
"City Council approves over $411,000 in Cannabis Revenue Grants to local nonprofits"
