All the old hands and sort of graybeards in American news and politics, particularly people with experience in National Security and foreign policy, they will all tell you the same thing about the presidential transition period. They will all tell you that the transition times between one president and the next those are often times when things go haywire.

And this transition is not proving to be a disappointment along those lines.

I mean in the blink of an eye we've had the government collapse in Germany, we've had the government collapse in France, we have had the imposition of marshal law, and an attempted overthrow of the government in South Korea. We have had the toppling of the Assad regime and potentially a wholesale realignment of all the major powers in the Middle East, all while we are in between the end of one presidency and the beginning of another.

But don't worry.

Elon musk's mom is sitting in on the meetings and Jared just got both his ex-con dad and his college roommate really cool jobs and people have almost forgotten about the child sex trafficking attorney general nomination and the other guy…

and this is just the beginning of how insane the world gets when CIA is not in power. 

This is what Trump wanted in Jan 2017 when he spoke to CIA and said he would "Get rid of the columns"- he did. CIA is crumbling down. It will be fascinating to see what else surprising happens around the world as a result.

Jan 23 2017 Trump orated / shouted to CIA: “I am coming back, we’re going to have to get you a larger room. Maybe it will be built by somebody that knows how to build, and we won’t have columns. (Laughter.) You understand that? (Applause.) We get rid of the columns.” Trump made a point first week of his presidency to say those words at the closing of his speech to assembled employees of CIA.

“Get rid of the columns,” Trump shouted and repeated over the din of agents forced to listen to him.
