Lead Belly advised "It's best to stay woke, keep the eyes open." Original quote transcribed here

I found the 60 second quote and transcribed it, because the word woke has taken on a new historic significance- especially as my long time Facebook friend T-D said:

"WOKE" is the premier current example of stealing a positive, relevant term from your adversary -- and turning it into an insult & instrument of hate.

The Lead Belly quote that ends with "So I advise everybody to be a little careful when they go along through, it's best to stay woke, keep the eyes open" starts at the end of an interview with Lead Belly after he sings the song “Scottsboro Boys” at 03:22 on the Smithsonian video below.  I used my retired transcriber skills to capture it.

Here is what Lead Belly said that introduced the word “woke” to the American vernacular, while today those who are rewriting American history have transformed the word into – an Alice in Wonderland on coke right wing warp the listeners’ brain word.

TRANSCRIPT:

03:22

Q         :           What did the Scottsboro Boys do anyway to get in all this trouble?

LB        :           Well they was down there and they supposedly been riding in a- on a freight train. And they was riding in the boxcar and they run up on some white women.  And they had on pants and they was riding too, all  [SOUNDS LIKE of the soldiers had been beaten away] up to coming this way.  And so down in Alabama I guess the train stopped in the yard down there somewhere.  Well and some of them found all the boys and girls in the same boxcar, some were different cars.

03:52

And so I guess that some of the people down there they just said, well, they've seen them boys going out there with them white women and that’s what was trouble about it.  Then they went out and made some loud cry about the boys being there with the women, you see. That was all there was to it and they just saw the women, they didn't seem nothing else wrong.  But anyhow they put the boys in jail and then that's six long years, right.  The states all the whole United States got together and they got out for them, and they come to New York.  And the lawyer that got them out, I know him pretty good, I've met them.  And he showed me the Scottsboro Boys and I shook hands with them.  So I made this little song about it down there.  So I advise everybody to be a little careful when they go along through, it's best to stay woke, keep the eyes open.

I just realized what's happening in USA.

The Twin Towers are still tumbling down.

Welcome to United American Emirates

I've said USA is now a colony of Arabia many times, half-joking. Now this article kinda proves it's true. a "Saudi-owned company, allow[ed] to pump all the water it needs to grow alfalfa hay — a crop it exports to feed the kingdom’s dairy cows." And, for years, the state did not know how much water the company was consuming. "Soon after the company, Fondomonte Arizona, arrived in the Butler Valley in 2015, state planners suggested asking the company to install meters and report its water use, according to a memo reviewed by The Washington Post. That way, the memo argued, the state could “at least obtain accurate information” on water drained from the valley — water that could otherwise serve as backup for booming urban areas."

Welcome to United American Emirates

Watching in awe and fear

I worked at NASA in 1970s-80s and WAY BACK THEN scientists were alarmed about how fast the planet was heating and trying to get out word about it.

And being blocked from doing so.

Now watching how every year things get exponentially worse all over the world due to the planet heating, I am often almost brought to  tears.  And scared of how bad this can get.

there's more

Click below to read Thom Hartmann's coverage of this really frightening new development a Trump humping judge in Louisiana set down: No one who works in the US govt executive branch, down to part time clerks, is allowed to point out disinformation on social media. The disinformation can go on unimpeded. This is NUTS and went down July 4th when no one was paying attention. Thom Hartmann is outraged

Plus the writers strike shows no sign of ending, so all those late night comedians who used to mock effectively every Trump lie and insane act have been silenced. Wow, this really is an attack on USA with weaponized disinformation. This is how it plays out'

I bet operatives for Russia infiltrated the WGA to encourage them to strike, like Maria Buttina infiltrated NRA and riled up all those open carry supporters. The rhetoric of some speakers at WGA rallies could be in Russian streets in 1920

This feels like ongoing acts of war using information as weapons. To me it does

"There's More" in headline above refers to what I wrote about it yesterday:

on and on and on and I feel turned off

Another Trump judge makes ruling that helps destroy USA:

Federal judge blocks Biden administration officials from communicating with social media companies

As of yesterday: Disinformation is free speech so can't be stopped or even flagged on social media by the President. So like in 2016, in 2024 election Gateway Pundit et al will spread lies that vulnerable people will believe and consider when voting, never hearing that they are lies. Meanwhile thanks to writers strike, there is almost No Response from the other side, I don't think Biden realizes how bad this ruling is as he's not a big Twitter guy. So all we'll hear in upcoming months is rabid repetition of obvious disinformation that is often hostile to our own nation, anti-American propaganda piping into our TVs, phones, computers, putting many of our neighbors into a state of mesmerized bliss that cannot be shaken. Whoever schemed up this scheme to put these airheads in as federal judges was brilliant, it's like Trump is still president every time a decision reaches one of his placed federal judges, most of whom are barely qualified and have little experience. They probably don't even realize the damage they are doing, but it is going on and on and on. And I'm turned off

This after Trump practically ran his presidency on Twitter. Except when he was appointing loyal MAGA judges to carry on like this when he left. Wow

If, like me, you think weaponized disinformation is at act of war by foreign countries who want death to America (like both Russia and Arabia), then this judge just aided and abetted the enemy.
