After almost every event, this is a question that always comes up. Did climate change play a role? For many many events and some parts of the world because there are so many studies that have been done in over the years, it's easy to make that connection. But especially in the global south there are many regions that are still under studied, under represented.
It is very important that we keep doing more and more studies to bring the results out. The rainfall:. We know that as the atmosphere warms, the atmosphere can hold more and more moisture. And as a consequence, it rains more in a warmer atmosphere as compared to a world without climate change. And this is one of the things that we have seen in our analysis as well.
We do see an increasing trend in extreme rainfall, especially in observations. Both of these cyclones, you know, these are not common occurrences in either of these regions. It was by far like very devastating and very strong and again cyclone Ditwah as well. I think the last cyclone that hit the region that caused so much impacts was the one in around 1970s in regions.
When such events hit the regions that have not experienced such events so frequently, then the preparedness has to be scaled up. Dec 15, 2025 (10 Dec 2025) RESTRICTION
