Seven states. One historic flood. And the water is still moving.
Right now the images coming out of the Midwest show what a record rain event does when it stalls over the same ground. Rivers are past their banks in Indiana and beyond, roads and farmland are under water, and evacuations are underway as crews work to reach people cut off by the flooding.
That's what makes this one so dangerous. There is no single crest to watch and no clean end point. Every round of rain upstream becomes an emergency downstream.
