I worked around intelligence officers in the 1970s-80s; I'm not one myself but I spent a lot of time at happy hour with them. Oh how I wish I could remember the details of the conversations, I just know that they were warning way back in the 1970s about a device that, because technology builds on itself, would inevitably be introduced soon. To our amazement, it was a phone that people could carry around; and it was going to wreak havoc with intelligence, open avenues for foreign agents to enter, destroy our privacy- as far back as the mid-1970s people who worked in Intel in the USA knew that, and yet we let smartphones just take over everything I mean look at us.
