Minister Çiftçi stated that Turkey, under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, hosts international summits, sporting events, and diplomatic forums. “We Are Working Diligently for COP31 As Well”
Climate Emergency Forum will be there:

Herb Simnons: Give us a preview and a little sense of what we should expect in Antalya and what your perspective is.
Peter Carter: Thank you, Herb. I felt very challenged to make sense of this COP, but that's not that unusual.
So the first thing, of course, is that this is the 31st conference, United Nations Conference.
So there have been 30 failed conferences, 30 of them.
Last year was a record year for CO2 and greenhouse gas emissions. And actually the first six months of this year is another record. It's higher again. Clearly, this is not a process that delivers. And one of the main reasons that I'll just quickly repeat is that-
The COPs are set up to fail because they've got a failure voting system for making decisions, whereby it has to be unanimous. So you have to have an agreement from all the big oil and gas producing countries. And of course, that's not going to happen.
I noticed that on the introductions from the various groups that the theme of keeping 1.5 degrees C within reach is still there.
Well, again, as I've said, 1.5 C, as James Hansen has told us, is long, long gone.
And the UNEP's very recent paper, most important paper for Overshooting 1.5 degrees C, is called Limiting Overshoot.

******************
The Guardian was the one media that picked up the point that we're not only over 1.5 degrees C, we're actually at 1.8 degrees C because that's the best we can do according to UNEP.
So this really, really, really is a dire emergency situation.
Now I looked at the agenda today and again, that's not that unusual, but you can't really identify anything clearly on mitigation, on emissions, on transition, on getting off fossil fuels, but that's not unusual. It will be put in, I'm sure.
So Turkey has some themes, priority themes, and one of them is clean energy transition. So hopefully that will stay on top of the priorities.
With that, they have electrification. They have this project, 35 by 35, of having 35% of the world electrified by 2035. So yeah, that's okay. It needs to be a lot more.
The new thing that they have is called a climate implementation bridge. I mean, this sounds like a sensible idea, but it's getting about 10 different organizations together. Supposedly, they will work together to push more action on implementation. But I doubt that you've got a lot of these organizations trying to work together.
Another new thing is they have what they call an implementation bridge. So this really explains that they're not looking at current emissions at all. They're looking at what are called NDCs. They're looking at the voluntary pledges, the voluntary promises of each individual nation. And we all know that they are paltry, to put it kindly.
This is a bad omen.
If, as I read it, the negotiations will be negotiating on the NDCs, then it's failed from the start.
Herb: Yes. Thank you, Peter.

Noting that approximately 20,000 delegation members are expected to attend the summit, and that the conference area is expected to receive around 100,000 visitors daily, Minister Çiftçi said, “During this summit, that is, between November 9-20, a total of 26,000 personnel from the Ministry of Interior, including those from the General Directorate of Security, the General Command of the Gendarmerie, and the Coast Guard Command, will be on duty here. We have made the necessary plans from land, air, and sea. Our aim is for this organization to be completed flawlessly.”

COP30 attacks fake news with Declaration on Information Integrity- "tackling the silent saboteur, climate disinformation"- Now a Warning part 1 of 3 at Heating Planet blog Launched during COP30 in Belém Nov 12,The Declaration on Information Integrity on Climate brings together nations, UN agencies, and civil organizations in a commitment to combat misinformation, which threatens the fight against the climate crisis. Two very similar short videos appeared on YouTube right after the Declaration announcement; both are here w transcripts. https://cityofangels25.blogspot.com/search?q=COP30+attacks+fake+news+with+Declaration+on+Information
I think the irony of climate activists jetting around the world to spend 2 weeks with each other, renting cars that probably burn gas, to drive around a different city 31 years in a row and accomplish almost nothing, will not be lost on historians. Have you ever heard of Zoom? SMH -ke
