Since I live in rural Northern California, I'm in the statistic of people who don't have access to a lot of healthcare as we live in rural areas of the USA. So I have been in chronic pain since 1996, yes, 30 years. During times when I had good health insurance, I had good health care at places like Cedars Sinai in LA. Today I go to a little clinic where apparently there is no doctor, just nurse practitioners who then have zoom calls with doctors, so it's impossible for me to get a diagnosis a real diagnosis.
Oh, and they can't prescribe any drugs that have a street value to people who are poor because, you know, we're going to go out on the street and sell them we're not going to use them. I hate the medical delivery service in the United States but I'm stuck here, so I have to live with it.
I'm convinced there's something metallic about this pain. I feel metal inside me like liquid metal; it travels along my nerves and then it hardens and I hurt like hell, everywhere*. I think I'm sick because of all of the fossil fuel humans have been burning on this planet since the late 1800s, because look at all the damage it's done to everything since then, do you think this destruction is going to skip humans?
A lot of people live with diffuse unidentified unverifiable pain that cannot be treated because no one really knows what's causing it; yet here in the USA doctors have a policy to not prescribe medicine that actually makes a person feel better. I am stuck in that quagmire.
I'll probably never know what's causing this pain, however I hear I'm going to be having palliative care soon here in my home. My DIY hospice is a little less DIY but it still isn't really as good as it would be if I lived in the UK or Canada where they have socialized medicine; God I wish Americans would snap out of their stupors.
