My generation was first and only one where almost all of us got good educations. Then as young adults we were able to see that the war in Vietnam was illegal and protested. So the powers stopped sending Americans to college, Democracy doesn't work unless the voters are educated; now even elections don’t work in USA.
(Damn I started out writing something positive and it ended like this. Maybe tomorrow)
I wake up with flash images of Beyonce “Freedom” song and the hope I had last week then get let down, because I really need a home care person and Kamala had a plan
I can't spend anymore time in discontent, so this AM using the serenity prayer:
Accepting things I cannot change: Lots of people live under fascism so time to learn how;
Courage to change things I can: Under fascism, those who protest or fight back get beaten down. So I have to beat back my need to protest and fight back. People who survive fascism are the ones who humble down and accept and live within the constraints the fascists put up, as unfair as they are. This is what Americans voted for. Keep a low profile, for now.
Wisdom to know the difference: That'll come later, I hope
Democracy doesn't work unless the voters are educated now we know even elections don’t work in USA. Too late to fix that for this election or next, don’t know how to get Americans back to college…
wow Hillary had a plan for me too; she spoke of my generation of women, the last to be dependent on husbands for livelihood, so our social security is ridiculously low. Mine is 800 something and I know women who get less. My generation women make up the ranks of elderly poor. In 2016 I watched that hope for me disappear too when Hillary lost.
Oh well, luckily I got myself into HUD senior housing, although
I notice when people move out, they leave the apartment empty an awful long
time…like something is not right
