Senators have to blog so Americans know about troop deployments Trump is hiding. (Maddow 04.04.2017 quotes here)

Once again I'm moved to document the coup.  A clip from Rachel Maddow show on MSNBC April 4, 2017 drives me to the laptop to get down what they are saying. As I sit here, little old lady with a laptop, I am watching the coup as it takes place, and transcribing clips to tell the story here at my blog.  Here is latest entry in the City of Angels Winging It / Malcolm Nance Transcript Project.* watch the clip here at MSNBC or watch it here on YouTube (while it lasts)  also transcripts of the entire show go up a day or so later at Maddow Blog.  Here is our work on segment titled:

Trump hides signing of unpopular legislation behind closed doors

Quotes of Note:
"Senators on the Foreign Relations committee are writing their own essays, making their own blog post public disclosures about U.S. troops being moved by the hundreds into war zones.  And they're having to do that because the White House is not telling us that information on its own anymore."

"By not announcing these troop deployments they don’t keep it secret, just obscure it a little, don’t draw attention to it."

"Senators on the Foreign Relations committee are writing their own essays, making their own blog post public disclosures about U.S. troops being moved by the hundreds into war zones.  And they're having to do that because the White House is not telling us that information on its own anymore."

Quotes transcribed from show start here:

07:10
Maddow:  Hypocrisy is cheap.  Saying one thing and doing another, condemning other people for doing things that you are guilty of,
We wouldn't have half the parables in the Bible, if human beings had come up with a cure for that particular affliction any time in history.
*
(Transcriber at the sink:  Wow what a beautiful quote. I have to get that down)
*
Maddow:  The thing that is new about this new administration is when they choose to operate behind closed doors and when they choose to act out in the open.
Every administration plays up their strengths and plays down weaknesses but their behavior is weirder than that.

I mean Senators on the Foreign Relations committee are writing their own essays, making their own blog post public disclosures about U.S. troops being moved by the hundreds into war zones.  And they're having to do that because the White House is not telling us that information on its own anymore.

By not announcing what troops are going, and where the troops are going, they're not keeping the information actually secret, they just obscure it a little, they don’t draw attention to it.
They buy themselves a little time in which they don’t have to answer any questions about what they're doing.
By not announcing these troop deployments the White House avoids or at least delays any political fight in Washington over whether there's a good strategic reason to send more American troops into the middle of that Syrian war.
*
(Transcriber at the sink.  Yes there is a reason to go into Syria. For Russia)
*
And why the president has changed his mind about it.
I mean it is presumably easier to blame the previous administration-

(Most of this is gist as full transcripts of Maddow’s show are available at her blog)

Maddow: So they have come up with this closed door strategy, for Syria at least, where they are not arguing or explaining it or making a case for themselves.  They're just doing stuff without saying that's what they're doing.
And that's not the way it is supposed to work when it comes to Americans putting their lives in danger in war.
But that is not the Trump administration M-O on national security matters.

Maddow: The same day Trump conducted photo op signing of several executive orders, one where he went out of his way to gather women around him:
15:32
Maddow:  That same day they cleared all the extras out of the room, pushed out all the cameras, closed the doors and very quietly That Same Day
That Same Day
That same day the President also signed a very consequential bill, which makes it easy for seriously mentally ill people to buy firearms, because you remember how everybody campaigned in November on the More Guns for the seriously mentally ill platform.
*
(Transcriber is not in kitchen anymore, wiping hands, standing at screen)
*
No that one they did not want to talk about. that one they did in secret.
That one they wanted to do but they couldn't defend it, so they did it in secret.

We are starting to learn the ropes with these guys.
They are unusually afraid to talk about their actions that they can't defend, actions where they can't identify a single human being who wants them to act that way.
But for some reason they still feel compelled to act.
Whether it's guns or the internet or the secret escalation in Syria that before he was president he was so opposed to.

We are figuring out what they're doing when they retreat behind closed doors.
And we've got a scoop tonight, leaked documents out of the EPA, coming up stay with us.

feeling grim, and as if there is nothing we can do to stop this now

*I call it the Malcolm Nance Transcript Project bk this started when I kept hearing M Nance say things on news shows that I wanted to get down, just bk what is happening right now is historical, if nothing else. I'm trying to get it down here, it's being documented all over the place, who knows how this coup is going to turn out, I'm scared of what is happening next week, every day is scarier and scarier and. . .
